100 word challenge this week

Well done to Megan Ellis, a super effort.

One boiling hot and breezy afternoon me and my friend Lily were playing in the warm summer breeze. It blew through our hair as we were gently gliding through the air like a hot air balloon. The grass was as soft as sheep wool and the flowers were luminous pink and purple while the other flowers were as beautiful as the day. But it was far too hot to play outside in the bright vibrant sun all day, so we decided to play inside for a while. We watched a movie then we were being dramatic and having some fun.

100 word challenge 16.6.14

Well done to Lorna Collinson this week for her entry for the challenge!

Dear Diary,

Today my mother got tickets for our whole family to go to Rio to see Brazil battle it out with Uruguay! I nearly jumped right out of my skin when I heard the great news.

Wednesday 19th May

Today is the day when we get to go to Brazil! We all hopped in the care, even our dog scruff. As we got to the busy town of Rio, everybody was rushing around manically screaming and shouting extremely loudly trying to get to the huge roaring stadium, but that’s what happens in Brazil when there is a world cup.

Some comments from class 8:
I really enjoyed our Viking vs roman battle, it was very fun! Most of the ships survived and the catapults worked exceedingly well! It was a great afternoon. Jennifer

I really enjoyed making and sailing our longships. Some of them sank but we all know why now. At least we won the challenge. Lets see who will win the next challenge. Megan W

Launching the ships was fun, a lot sank but victory was finally ours! Joe

Today we sailed our Viking longships across the sea, well a paddling pool in fact. Some of our ships survived but some of them sank. The overall score was 15 by class 6 and 19 by class 8. Mia.

I liked this because I was interested in their catapults and how they worked. Oliver

Well done class 8 and class 6, your longships and catapults were fantastic!

100 word challenge this week

Well done to Megan Wood this week, a fun piece of writing!

In the sky a massive whooshing sound was heard. People rushed screaming and crying. Then suddenly the thing in the sky crashed down to the ground and smashed, inside was a gooey sticky mess that flooded out like a stream. People that were in their cars had now screeched to a halt, horns were honked and other people were now angry. Then muscly builders and maintenance men were soon on their way and in no time they had cleared the mess. But this mysterious cream egg had just fallen from the sky! Was it an alien space ship? Maybe, who knows!

Viking experience day for Year 5’s

Class 8 found out some interesting facts about Vikings from ‘Thor’. They were told stories about different gods and found out about where they lived. Thor also explained about different musical instruments and played tunes to the children. The class were then able to see how to grind corn and got the chance to have a go too. We then had a dance and a sing, holding hands and making different shapes. In the afternoon all of year 5’s came together and looked at weapons and armour.

100 word challenge week beginning 2.6.14

Well done to Millie Owens this week, I loved your writing, you built up the suspense throughout.

I remember when my closet best friend double dared me to go in a creepy haunted castle at the exciting fun fair. So I did. Going through the dark mysterious gateway, was black and freezing cold. I started to run. I was scared. I knew I was never going to see the light of day again. I was galloping around like a lost horse. I didn’t know where I was, I was completely lost. I heard strange noises inside my head telling me to run, so I started running fast. I saw some light, so I sprinted. I finally won.

Cooking viking soups!

Class 8 children worked in groups to produce their own viking soups. They made up the recipe, bought in the ingredients, then chopped and prepared the vegetables and meat. The pictures show the children stirring and cooking their own soups. Each child then tasted and evaluated and the unanimous vote was that they tasted great! Well done to all of class 8, it was a superb day.
